RS&H is seeking a dynamic and experienced Transportation Engineer to join our Illinois Infrastructure Practice. This is a high-impact opportunity to lead transportation projects across the state in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), while shaping the future of mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design of complex roadway and multimodal transportation projects, including geometric design, drainage, traffic control, and construction staging.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with IDOT, local agencies, stakeholders, and the public to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
  • Oversee project delivery from concept through construction, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Support business development through proposal writing, client engagement, and strategic planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Active Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with a strong portfolio of IDOT or Illinois Tollway projects.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and other design software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with alternative delivery methods (CMGC, DB, PDB).
  • Familiarity with IDOT's Bureau of Design and Environment (BDE) Manual and Phase I/II documentation.
  • Previous involvement in stakeholder engagement or public meetings.

The base salary range for this position in Illinois is $134,115 to $171,596. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
