Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Jr. Fire Protection Engineer to support the US Air Force's Sentinel (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent - GBSD) program. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground-based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). We invite you to join our team for this phenomenal opportunity in designing the future ICBM!
This is an on-site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties:
  • Develop, refine, and implement Fire Protection documents and tools.
  • Assist in the development of fire protection program requirements.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the fire protection discipline.
  • Assess the implementation of and compliance with the Fire Protection Plan (FPP).
  • Identify and report deficiencies to management.
  • Review and maintain an understanding of facility Fire Hazard Analyses.
  • Maintain an understanding of facilities' fire protection features, a working understanding of process flow diagrams, system design descriptions, and facility design descriptions, and an understanding of documented safety analyses (DSAs).
  • Perform facility audits in accordance with the Fire Protection Facility Assessment plan and periodically review Pre-Fire Response Plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of fire department familiarization tours.
  • Perform and record monthly facility fire protection inspections.
  • Maintain a functional understanding of inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) for fire sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Perform Hot Work Permit program oversight, audits, and evaluations.
  • Perform Technical Safety Requirements inspections of assigned facilities.
  • Provide backup to the fire protection staff to ensure implementation of the FPP.
  • Identify and implement actions to promote improvements and correct deficiencies in the implementation of the FPP.
  • Assist in the identification and clarification of fire protection attributes in the planning process to ensure work is accomplished in accordance with FPP requirements.
  • Assist in the development and approval of compensatory actions for fire system impairments.
  • Arrange for and/or perform presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts.
  • Oversee field activities through inspections, testing, and equipment operations.

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.   • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 2 or more years of fire protection experience.
  • Experience with design of Fire Protection systems within unique/large facilities (not residential).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • P.E. License.
