About the role:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Purchasing Buyer to support our fast-growing controls automation, vision technology, and turnkey project business. This role will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget, and at the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in industrial automation, electrical controls, material handling systems, or related manufacturing environments and will be comfortable managing multiple simultaneous projects with varying lead times and technical specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchasing & Procurement
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, components, and subcontracted services for:
    • Controls & Electrical Systems (PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, panels)
    • Material Handling Equipment (conveyors, sortation components, motors)
    • Vision & Optical Systems (cameras, lenses, lighting, AI processing hardware)
    • Fabricated Components (machined aluminum, sheet metal, brackets, frames)
  • Issue purchase orders, track confirmations, and expedite deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Negotiate best pricing, lead times, and payment terms to maximize company margins
  • Supplier & Vendor Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with a network of reliable, cost-effective vendors
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, performance, and quality metrics
  • Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing disputes
  • Work with engineering to qualify new vendors for specialized parts
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • 1-2 years of purchasing experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or related field
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience reading technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications
  • Proficient with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, NetSuite, JobBOSS, SAP, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking and reporting
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of controls, automation, vision systems, or electrical components.
  • Familiarity with tariff impacts, import/export regulations, and freight management
Education and Certifications
  • Required minimum High School Diploma with 5 years of Automation experience
  • Preferred associate or bachelor's degree
