Job Description

The Electrical Engineer – Traffic Signal Design is a technical role within multidisciplinary infrastructure project teams based in Gatineau, QC, Canada supporting projects across Canada. The position focuses on the design and delivery of electrical systems supporting urban transportation infrastructure, with an emphasis on traffic signal systems.
The role contributes across multiple project phases, including preliminary design, detailed design, regulatory compliance, and construction support. Responsibilities involve coordination with civil, transportation, and municipal stakeholders to ensure integrated and code‑compliant electrical solutions aligned with Canadian standards and client requirements
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in traffic signal, demonstrates technical leadership capability, and provides oversight and mentorship to junior engineering staff while supporting quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within electrical design teams.

Job Description

  • Design and implementation of electrical systems with experience in Traffic Signal Design.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into larger projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local codes, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in client and project meetings, providing valuable input and insights.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Electrical department through the review and development of standards and templates.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • 5-10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering roles
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in traffic signal design
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable transportation standards (OTM BOOK 12, OPSD , OPSS)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D softwares used for infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.
