The Opportunity

This position works out of Livermore, CA location in the Abbott Heart Failure, Acelis Connected Health business. Our Heart Failure solutions are helping address some of the World's greatest healthcare challenges.

We are looking for a visionary Principal SDE to lead the development of intelligent, scalable software solutions across mobile, cloud, and data platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, driving innovation and operational excellence across the organization.

What You'll Work On

  • Architect Agentic Workflows: Lead the hands-on engineering of autonomous AI agents and RAG systems using LangChain to automate complex clinical workflows, moving the Acelis platform from static data to intelligent, agent-driven actions.
  • Deploy Multimodal ML Models: Design and ship high-accuracy Predictive ML models for patient risk-stratification and Image Analysis AI to enhance diagnostic speed, utilizing a hybrid of in-house builds and external LLM integrations
  • End-to-End Model Ownership: Spearhead the deployment and real-time monitoring of all production models; you are empowered to make direct architectural changes to the ML pipeline to ensure scalability, reliability, and clinical safety
  • Architect and deliver high-performance native mobile applications integrated with ML models and cloud services.
  • Deep expertise in designing and optimizing scalable, high-performance database architectures, with hands-on experience in both relational and NoSQL systems to support mission-critical applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement AI-driven solutions, leveraging state-of-the-art frameworks to solve complex business problems and enhance user experiences across mobile and cloud platforms.
  • Lead ML initiatives using frameworks like LangChain, Hugging Face, and TensorFlow, embedding intelligence into mobile and web platforms.
  • Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Directors and VPs to influence technical strategy and make high-impact architectural decisions.
  • Mentor and grow software engineers and junior database engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical rigor.


Required Qualifications
10+ years of software development experience across mobile and backend systems.
5+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineering core teams.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.

Build, test, and containerize predictive models using Python and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Implement MLOps pipelines to automate training, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven track record in building native mobile apps and architecting complex database systems.
Expertise in ML model development and deployment using LangChain, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks.
