Job description

Junior Counselor Position

This is a seasonal position beginning in June and continuing for 10 weeks. Potential summer earnings are $3,750 (less applicable taxes).

Junior counselors support the daily care, supervision, and development of campers while helping lead a variety of camp activities. They assist senior counselors and program staff in creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where campers can grow, build skills, and enjoy new experiences.

Junior counselors help supervise campers throughout the day, apply youth-development principles, and ensure all safety guidelines are followed. They participate in planning and leading activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, nature programs, waterfront activities, and camp-wide eventsโ€”adapting activities to meet the interests and abilities of each group. They also help maintain equipment, monitor facilities, and communicate any concerns to camp management.

A key part of the role is supporting camper well-being by recognizing personal needs, assisting with daily routines, and modeling positive behavior, sportsmanship, and respect for camp procedures. Junior counselors actively participate in all assigned programs and contribute to a positive camp community.

Candidates must be 16 or 17 years old, complete First Aid/CPR and required safety trainings, pass a background check, and be able to stay active outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position requires strong communication skills, comfort working with children, and the physical ability to supervise and assist campersโ€”including in emergency situations.

Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Working 37.5 hours per week
