WHAT WE OFFER
The primary responsibility of the New Martinsville, WV Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) co-op position is to work with the TPU Staff supporting the Thermoplastic Polyurethane business within Covestro (formerly Bayer Material Science) located in New Martinsville, WV. The incumbent will support hands-on Operations and activities supporting Automation within the Operating Unit. Additionally, support the proactive and continuous improvement of operations and maintenance strategies for the Operating Unit. The undergraduate co-op program provides increasingly challenging assignments that are commensurate with academic training and individual ability to assume a job responsibility.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Conduct/Support Automation strategies using advanced Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and Pi systems
  • Conduct/Support P&ID modifications
  • Prepare CAD models Operating Unit processes
  • Design/Implement small projects as required
  • Support critical equipment Preventive Maintenance Plan for/in the SAP environment
  • Support the Operations efforts by preparing required information, reports and presentations

WHAT YOU OFFER
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, and/or Computer Science
  • At the time of hire, the selected candidate must have completed the Sophomore or Junior year of college
  • Should be participating in a college Co-op program

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with SAP, DCS, Pi, CAD, Automation (AI) software platforms
  • College GPA of 3.0 or greater

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Hands-on mechanical capabilities
  • Familiarity with extrusion process and associated equipment, i.e. pumps, valving, piping, steam, etc.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
