Job Summary
As a Junior Computer Scientist, you will work on Aeronautical Information Management Modernization (AIMM) to provide Aeronautical Common Services (ACS) for the Special Activity Airspace, Federal NOTAM System, and airport configuration data. You will be working independently with supervision to support software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and maintenance to computer systems.
Responsibilities
  • Support system development, testing, integration, and deployment activities for the ACS
  • Support installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Linux systems
  • Develop and document testing procedures
  • Develop and manage Linux shell scripts for application software testing and administration
  • Able to debug software issues in Linux environments
  • Support development of Oracle database test scripts
  • Able to read, decipher, and troubleshoot XML files and WSDLs
  • Create and conduct Web Service tests using SoapUI
  • Review and comment on system engineering documents, system requirement documents, ad system testing documents
  • Attend system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and additional meetings to support the program and team as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Computer Science, Math, or another technical field and three years of related work experience

OR
  • Master's degree with one year of related work experience in computer science or math

Technical Proficiencies
  • Required
    • Willing to travel
    • Working knowledge and background of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Operating Systems, Linux shell scripting, VMware virtual environment, XML
    • Technical understanding of systems, databases, networking, and computing environments
    • Knowledge of automated test tools
  • Preferred
    • Working knowledge of Web Service testing with SoapUI test tool
    • Unix/Linux Operating Systems Administration skills
    • Working knowledge of networking, client server architecture, cloud computing and enterprise system architecture
    • Understanding of IP network technologies and software tools for performance monitoring and troubleshooting
    • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Java Message Service (JMS), Web Services (Not Web Page development), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) Communication Protocol
    • Knowledge of SQL scripts for Relational Database testing, Python scripting, and task automation methods and software (e.g. Ansible, scripting)
    • Familiarity with C, C++, Java, SQL, and Assembly
    • Familiarity with the following web applications HTML 5/XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, JSON technologies
