How do you get a coding job with no experience?

To get a junior coding position with no experience, focus on building a portfolio of projects, learn relevant programming languages, and gain practical skills through online courses or coding bootcamps. Internships, volunteering, or contributing to open-source projects can also help demonstrate your abilities to employers.

Junior coding professionals often encounter challenges such as adapting to new codebases, understanding established development workflows, and managing multiple priorities. Do you love turning ideas into beautifully drafted, buildable plans? If you're skilled at bringing design concepts to life and you thrive in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role:

As our Junior Designer, you'll play a key role in shaping residential design projects from concept to completion. You'll work closely with our design team, interact with clients, and take on a mix of research, drafting, and material selection work. This is a hands-on role where your contributions directly shape real spaces.

What You'll Do:

  • Keep projects on track by ensuring deliverables meet timelines and building codes
  • Support design meetings by gathering measurements and keeping plans current
  • Assist with client presentations, logging changes and helping with live plan revisions
  • Develop mood boards and support material selections and procurement
  • Maintain project documentation, coordinate with vendors, and keep our design library organized
  • Support marketing efforts, including photoshoots, and manage small design projects as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: 2+ years in architectural drafting or a related field, with solid experience in construction documentation
  • Skills: Proficiency in CAD, SketchUp, or Chief Architect and MS Excel; familiarity with building codes and zoning is a plus
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Design (or equivalent, relevant work experience)
  • Attributes: Strong communicator, collaborative team player, proactive problem-solver

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $45,000-$55,000 annually, based on experience
  • Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance (eligible after 90 days)
  • Retirement: Simple IRA with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 3% (eligible after 1 year)
  • Time Off: Generous vacation policy
  • Flexibility: Flexible hours and remote work options
  • Growth: Bonus opportunities

Local Travel:

This role includes occasional offsite meetings with vendors and clients to ensure every project detail comes together as planned.
