Job description

This is a 1.0 FTE position as a Language Arts teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Tecumseh Junior High School.  Applicants must be licensed from the State of Indiana in Language Arts covering grades 7 and 8.  Candidates that are not currently on a certified contract with the Lafayette School Corporation should complete an external application through Applitrack.

Position Summary

The Lafayette School Corporation (LSC) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Language Arts Teacher for grades 78 to join the instructional team at Tecumseh Junior High School for the 20262027 school year. This full-time position provides instruction in English Language Arts through targeted language development and instructional strategies that promote academic success across content areas.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for literacy, a commitment to serving diverse learners, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction to students in grades 78.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and language acquisition needs of students with varying English proficiency levels.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that promote literacy, critical thinking, communication, and academic language development.
  • Assess student learning and language growth using classroom and state assessment data to guide instruction.
  • Create a positive, safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and instructional supports.
  • Participate in professional development, school improvement initiatives, and collaborative team meetings.
  • Uphold all district policies, state regulations, and professional standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate for grades 712 English/Language Arts.
