Job description

Our Anderson, SC facility is seeking a Manufacturing Support Engineer that will be responsible for driving efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across manufacturing operations through process improvement, production planning, equipment optimization, and quality assurance. The position will lead initiatives such as new product introduction, supplier collaboration, and cross-functional projects while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and lean manufacturing standards. Candidates should bring a strong foundation in manufacturing engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and the ability to partner across teams to deliver continuous improvement and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. Implement changes and optimizations to enhance overall production performance. 

Production Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing costs. Coordinate with various departments to align production plans with organizational goals. 

Equipment Maintenance and Optimization: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and machinery. Ensure equipment reliability and performance to meet production demands. 

Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications. Conduct inspections, audits, and tests to identify and resolve quality issues. 

Cost Management: Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing expenses while maintaining quality standards. 

New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with product design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) to streamline production processes. 

Process Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and specifications. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. 

Training and Support: Provide training and support to production personnel on new processes, equipment, and procedures. Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the manufacturing team. 

Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve production issues and challenges in a timely manner. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes and prevent recurrence. 

Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations in the manufacturing environment. Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees. 

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment of manufacturing processes with overall business objectives. 

Project Management: Lead or participate in manufacturing-related projects, from conception to completion. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to achieve project goals. 

Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing organization. Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. 

Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components, as well as quality assurance of incoming goods. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to support manufacturing operations. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 
Experience within a manufacturing environment. 
Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including lean manufacturing, process optimization, and quality control. 
Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools. 
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is preferred. 
Knowledge of automation and robotics is preferred.
