Job description

Job Title: Security / Maintenance Labor / Custodial
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: JPL NASA Table Mountain Facility – Wrightwood, CA
Compensation: $20.71/hour base pay + $5.09/hour Health & Welfare (H&W) benefit on regular hours worked (not paid on overtime hours), for a total compensation value of $25.80/hour, plus Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k)

Shifts Available:

  • Day Shift
  • Swing Shift
  • Night Shift

Note: The Table Mountain Facility (TMF) operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Security / Maintenance Labor / Custodial professional to join our team at the prestigious JPL NASA Table Mountain Facility in Wrightwood, CA. This critical role supports the safety, maintenance, and operational readiness of the facility through a combination of security monitoring, custodial duties, and general maintenance.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the condition of buildings, equipment, instruments, and personnel; take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform regular security walk-throughs of the entire facility grounds.
  • Provide janitorial and housekeeping services across all buildings and grounds.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks, including landscaping and snow removal.
  • Support general facility maintenance and upkeep.
  • Handle material distribution and logistics within the facility.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles, including

    • 2 GSA 4-wheel drive vehicles

    • 1 Caterpillar IT12F Integrated Tool Carrier with attachments

    • 2 Bobcat loaders for snow removal (NASA special-use equipment; training and annual safe driving certification required)

  • Assist scientific personnel with loading and unloading equipment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Guard Card.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to work in various outdoor conditions, including snow and extreme heat.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to work on a Federal Government facility.
  • Ability to pass an extensive federal background check.
