Job description

Description:

The Class C Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of building materials to customer jobsites, retail locations, and company facilities. This position supports yard and warehouse operations through loading assistance, material handling, vehicle inspections, and customer service.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class C delivery vehicles in accordance with DOT, state, and company regulations
  • Deliver lumber, windows, doors, siding, trim, and other building materials to customer jobsites
  • Verify loads for accuracy before departure and confirm deliveries with customers upon arrival
  • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns immediately
  • Assist with loading, unloading, pulling, staging, and securing materials as needed
  • Maintain delivery paperwork, invoices, and electronic delivery records accurately 
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules and issues
  • Provide professional customer service during all deliveries and interactions
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and jobsite safety procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned equipment and vehicles
Requirements:
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening requirements if applicable
  • Previous delivery, warehouse, or building materials experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Knowledge of local roads, routes, and jobsite delivery procedures preferred 
  • Ability to read maps, delivery tickets, and shipping documents
  • Strong attendance, dependability, and communication skills
  • Customer-focused attitude with professional appearance and conduct

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds regularly 
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely secure loads

Work Environment

  • Outdoor yard and construction jobsite environment
  • Exposure to changing weather conditions, dust, noise, and heavy equipment
  • Early morning start times and overtime may be required based on delivery schedules

  • Maintain safe driving record and accident-free performance
  • Deliver materials accurately and on time
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with dispatch, yard, and sales departments
