Job Recruiting information

What is job recruiting?

Job recruiting is the process of finding, attracting, and selecting qualified candidates for employment within an organization. Recruiters work to identify talent, screen applicants, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process. Their goal is to match the right candidates with open positions, ensuring both the company’s and the applicants’ needs are met. Job recruiting can be handled internally by a company's human resources team or externally by specialized recruiting agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a job recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Job Recruiter, you need strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of talent acquisition strategies, and knowledge of recruitment processes, often supported by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, and HR software is typically required. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help recruiters excel in connecting with candidates and hiring managers. These skills are vital for identifying top talent efficiently and ensuring a smooth and effective hiring process.

What are some common challenges recruiters face when sourcing candidates for hard-to-fill positions?

Recruiters often encounter difficulties finding qualified candidates for hard-to-fill roles due to skill shortages, niche requirements, or high competition in the market. These roles may require specialized experience or certifications that limit the candidate pool. To address this, recruiters typically expand their sourcing strategies by leveraging professional networks, social media, and employee referrals, as well as proactively reaching out to passive candidates. Creative problem-solving and strong communication skills are essential for overcoming these challenges and successfully filling critical vacancies.

What is the difference between Job Recruiting vs Human Resources?

Required CredentialsRecruitment certifications, HR knowledgeHR certifications, broader HR expertise
Work EnvironmentRecruitment agencies, corporate HR departmentsCorporate offices, HR departments
Employer & Industry UsageUsed across industries for staffing needsUsed for overall HR management in organizations

Job recruiting specifically focuses on sourcing and hiring candidates for open positions, while human resources encompasses a broader range of employee management tasks, including onboarding, training, and policy development. Both roles are essential in the hiring process but serve different functions within an organization.

RCC’s mission is to ensure every system we touch is ready to perform safely, reliably, and without compromise. Come join an elite team of professionals who thrive in high-stakes environments with precision, discipline, and hands-on expertise. Because when systems go live, there’s no room for error. Here, your skills won’t just fill a role. They’ll shape projects that power entire industries such as mining.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated Technical Recruiter to join our Talent Acquisition team with a focus on sourcing, engaging, and hiring Process Engineers and Process Controls Engineers. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert in controls engineering talent, partnering closely with your team, hiring managers, and HR to build high-performing technical teams. You will manage the full recruitment lifecycle from initial sourcing through offer acceptance and help shape our employer brand within the Industrial Automation industry.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Full Cycle Recruiting & Pipeline Development

  • Develop and execute multi-channel sourcing strategies to identify qualified Process Controls Engineers, including passive candidates via LinkedIn, engineering forums, industry associations, and niche job boards
  • Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline of controls engineering professionals with expertise in DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and instrumentation systems
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition Manager and hiring managers to define role requirements, ideal candidate profiles, and technical screening criteria for controls engineering positions
  • Conduct thorough phone screens and structured behavioral interviews to assess both technical aptitude, cultural fit, and global travel readiness
  • Manage candidate experience throughout the process, ensuring timely communication and a positive impression of the organization
  • Extend and negotiate offers in alignment with compensation guidelines and market data

Process & Operations

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the ATS
  • Track and report on key recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, source of hire, pipeline conversion rates, and offer acceptance rates
  • Continuously identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and candidate quality
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and internal hiring policies

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers and HR, providing market intelligence on candidate availability, compensation benchmarks, and hiring trends
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and Project teams for a seamless hire-to-start experience
  • Provide regular updates and pipeline status reports to stakeholders and leadership

CORE BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

  • Resilience — stays effective under hiring pressure and ambiguity
  • Sales mindset — sells the role and company to competitive candidates
  • Relationship building — earns trust with passive candidates and managers

GLOBAL COMPETENCIES

  • Cultural competence — navigates global markets with sensitivity

  • Demonstrated ability to source and engage passive engineering talent using LinkedIn Recruiter and other sourcing tools
  • Familiarity with process controls engineering concepts and terminology (DCS, PLC, SCADA, P&IDs, instrumentation, loop tuning, etc.) or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn quickly
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruitment with multiple open requisitions simultaneously
  • Proficiency with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and standard recruiting tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with technical candidates and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience recruiting across the United States, Europe, LATAM, APAC
  • Background in heavy industry (e.g., mining, oil, gas, etc.)
  • Understanding of complex recruitment considerations such as global mobility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional recruiting certification(s)
  • Intermediate or Native bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing
