Job Description

As Supervisor Shipping at Doka Canada, you oversee all aspects of inventory operations, including shipping and receiving, inventory management, accuracy and control, and optimizing inventory accuracy processes within an extremely efficient, safe, and organized warehouse environment. You involve and oversee the shipping team in Calgary in daily plans and instructions for workers to ensure shipments are sent, received, documented, and processed accurately and on time.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Organize and Maintain Warehouse Operations: Ensure the warehouse operates in an organized and logical manner, optimizing space and ensuring safety standards are met.
  • Manage Manpower and Delivery Schedules: Plan (with the Yard Manager) daily and weekly manpower needs based on business demands to ensure timely delivery schedules are met, minimizing overtime.
  • Develop and Lead a Productive Team: Motivate, train, and develop a cohesive team, including temporary workers, to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure Inventory Accuracy: Verify and maintain accuracy in all inventory movements, including shipments, returns, and transfers, promptly addressing discrepancies.
  • Monitor and Maintain Inventory Levels: Track and manage inventory levels using internal systems, reporting any issues to logistics and management for resolution.
  • Enforce Health and Safety Policies: Conduct regular safety meetings, enforce safety protocols, and ensure a safe working environment for all warehouse staff.
  • Optimize Inventory Processes: Develop and execute S.M.A.R.T. plans to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency continually.
  • Manage Physical Inventory Counts: Assist in planning and executing regular physical inventory counts, reporting findings to logistics specialists for reconciliation.
  • Promote Operational Efficiency: Streamline processes to prevent negative inventory and reduce surplus, emphasizing adherence to procedures for optimal inventory control.
  • Coordinate Shipping Operations: Oversee shipping schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all outbound shipments, meeting business needs flexibly.
Qualifications
  • High School Education required; 1-2 years of Post-Secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a previous Team Lead or Supervisory role.
  • Valid forklift license and at least 1 year of forklift operation experience required.
  • Experience in warehouse administration or operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate Excel skills.
