Job description

GFT is seeking a CEI Inspector to join our Construction Services Team in Northern Florida

What you’ll be challenged to do:

Independently performs the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for steel. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: soils, concrete, steel, mechanical or electrical. Frequently serves in the capacity of Lead Inspector.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Inspects various facets of work on the JEA and FDOT construction site to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Conduct tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Documents nonconformance and participates determining appropriate resolution.
  • Develop job safety practices and drafts safety reports.
  • Drafts quality control reports and procedures.
  • Provides guidance for lower-level inspectors.
  • Experience with JEA underground utilities is recommended.

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 4 years of experience in construction inspection
  • 2 years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
  • A Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year can be substituted for years of experience

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $30 - $40 / hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
