JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Project Manager manages cross-organizational projects from start to finish. This position develops, manages and maintains project plans and documentation to ensure they are complete. The project manager supports and coordinates college-wide project management, change management, and planning initiatives based upon established college priorities and resources.
This position requires exceptional written communication skills. The ideal candidate should demonstrate superior written communication abilities, including the capacity to convey complex information with clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Project Management

  • Manages cross-organizational projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate people and resources to execute and deliver projects within a specified timeframe.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project plans and documentation to ensure they are complete.
  • Manage issues and decisions, escalate where necessary
  • Set deadlines and evaluate milestones Assign project responsibilities and provide updates to stakeholders and leadership team
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and third-party vendors/partners.
  • Identify and manage blocks and potential risks.
  • Develop and provide input to the project risk plan and mitigation strategy.
  • Work with stakeholders to monitor project deliverables and outcomes


Facilitation and Change Management

  • Leads cross-functional groups to identify and recommend areas of institutional change.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive change management plans aligned with project and college goals.
  • Conduct assessment to evaluate the impact of change initiatives on stakeholders, processes, and systems and prepare plans to mitigate risks.
  • Facilitate groups to conduct process mapping, analyze areas for improvement, ask critical questions, and produce documentation and recommendations.
  • Ensure process alignment with best practice, MCC's Mission Achievement Plan (MAP) and vision, and College Policies.
  • Create tailored communications to ensure transparency, update internal and external web resources, and conduct organization-wide awareness campaigns to inform stakeholders about projects, planning initiatives, and progress.
  • Assess training needs, develop learning strategies, and design and facilitate training programs to build capabilities essential for the successful adoption of change.

Integrated Planning Support

  • Works with leadership to activate and operationalize College MAP and other strategic planning initiatives.
  • Work with College functional areas to document area strategies and tasks needed to move MAP goals forward.
  • Coordinate and review all MCC institution-wide and functional area plans and planning efforts to ensure alignment and integration.
  • Attends work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience leading and facilitating work groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a range of constituents at all levels of the organization; including active listening.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must pass a background check.
