Position Description
Project Manager
Jr. Davis Construction is seeking a Project Manager who will plan and oversee the building process of various construction projects from start to finish. This position is responsible for managing highly complex and detailed construction projects while staying on schedule and meeting the client's needs from project start to close. The Project Manager will own the lead role and guide the project team in their assigned duties and ensure excellent communication and documentation are viewed as a priority. The position will require candidates to be well versed and experienced in contract review, pre-construction planning, procurement, project scheduling, cost projections and document control.
The ideal candidate would have 5+ years of experience working for a Highway Contractor in Central Florida and knowledgeable of construction practices related to highway construction. Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering, but all experienced candidates will be considered.
The Civil Site Construction Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a construction project.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Collaborates with engineers, architects, and other workers in the same project.
  • Choose subcontractors and delegate responsibilities.
  • Overall responsibility for safety, quality, and budget for projects ranging in size.
  • Direct reports include Project Engineer, Office Manager, QC, and Safety.
  • Prepares project status reports and works to ensure work adheres to contract specifications.
  • Communicate district and corporate information to the project team as well as keeping OM/GM updated.
  • Directs and supervises work of project administration, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operation priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships.
  • Establish/Define/Promote values, expectations, and performance standards for team and individual members in accordance with JDC's mission, vision, and values.
  • Create and execute project work plans.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the project to ensure complete solution is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Assist the Operations Manager and Project needs.
  • Manage costs and program documentation.
  • Effectively oversee subcontract management
  • Coach and develop staff.
  • Implement and monitor Safety and Hazard communication programs.
  • Monitor Quality Control and work in tandem with Site Superintendent
  • Carry out job duties while maintaining JDC values.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • MUST have Heavy/Highway experience project management experience.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of project experience in heavy/highway construction.
  • Familiar with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, and all other highway construction scopes.
  • Creativity and innovation are a must.
  • Must have excellent team building skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail oriented
