Job description

Distribution dock worker with at least 1-year experience
Javelin Logistics Corporation, is a leading provider of forwarding, transportation, and distribution services, is currently seeking a full time morning dock worker.
Responsibilities include:
Receiving, loading, and unloading, inventory, computer literate, organizing and maintaining the department at a high level of efficiency.
Essential Duties
  • Verifies and keeps record of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading and manifests.
  • Verify accuracy of freight location on the floor.
  • Affixes shipping labels or bills of lading on cartons and crates.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Uses forklift, walkie rider, or pallet jack to load and offload trucks.
  • Note and photograph exceptions when freight shows signs of damage
  • Promptly report all problems to Supervision
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Anticipate potential safety issues and initiate action to solve or prevent problems.

Skills and Competencies
  • Able to process trucks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain and keep an organized environment.
  • Lifting and unloading shipments up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to follow direction without detailed explanations
  • Basic Math and computer skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • A driven person with a positive attitude. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and independently.
  • Able to stand on feet all day and perform repetitive motions (reaching, grasping, carrying, climbing, etc.).
  • Manage time and resources to accomplish tasks.
  • Proactive with a good attendance record and punctuality.
  • Forklift certified
