Position Summary

*ROLE IS BASED IN HARTFORD, CT

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Development Engineer to lead the innovation, design, and development of cutting-edge software solutions for our enterprise healthcare systems.

As a key technical leader, you will drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security in mission-critical applications. You will play a pivotal role in completing proof of concepts/proof of technologies to inject innovative solutions to our development cycles. Focus areas include: DevSecOps implementation, leveraging tools like GitHub, Jenkins, and other CI/CD pipelines to optimize software delivery as well as AI solutions to optimize efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing complex enterprise systems, modernizing legacy applications, and mentoring development teams. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, architecture, security, and operations, to deliver innovative solutions that enhance healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise solutions using .NET, COBOL, Java, Node.js, JavaScript, and Angular
  • Define best practices for the adoption and integration of new/emerging technologies within the organization
  • Develop and implement POCs using emerging technologies to demonstrate their potential value and application
  • Modernize legacy applications, integrating them with cloud-native solutions, microservices and best practices in GCP and Azure, where appropriate
  • Implement DevSecOps pipelines using enterprise tooling such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and other CI/CD tools
  • Ensure security, compliance, and performance optimization across all software solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute technical roadmaps
  • Mentor and train other engineers on new tools, technologies, and methodologies - fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with expertise in most of the following: .NET, COBOL, Java, Node.js, JavaScript, and Angular
  • Experience with implementing solutions using Generative AI technologies and frameworks
  • 3+ years' experience with GCP and Azure, including cloud-native development and migration strategies
  • Expertise in enterprise application architecture, API development, and microservices
  • Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and compliance standards is a strong plus
  • Experience modernizing Legacy applications.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Mulesoft Integration
  • Understanding of mainframe architecture and operating systems (z/OS)


Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
