About the role
As a Senior Java Tech Lead, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, high-performance enterprise applications using modern technologies such as Java, REST APIs, and GraphQL. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation, ensure quality delivery, and align technology solutions with business objectives.
In this role, you will:
Design and develop scalable, high-performance applications using Java, REST APIs, and JSON-based integrations
Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into technical solutions
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, promoting coding best practices and engineering excellence
Conduct code reviews and enforce architectural standards to maintain high-quality deliverables
Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to enhance system efficiency
Ensure secure application design and compliance with data protection and industry standards
Partner with QA teams to enable comprehensive testing and successful production releases
Provide post-production support and continuous improvements to applications and development processes

What you need to have to be considered
9-13 years of experience in Java-based application development
Strong expertise in Java, REST APIs, JSON, and JavaScript
Hands-on experience with GraphQL and modern API design
Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable enterprise architectures
Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
Experience in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system optimization
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience leading teams and delivering complex enterprise solutions end-to-end
These will help you stand out
Experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain
Exposure to microservices architecture and cloud-based environments
Experience implementing security best practices and compliance frameworks
Certification such as Certified JavaScript Developer
Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is Between $65,447 to $117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
