Scrum Master (Development Background)

Experience: 6 to 12 Years

Location: Malvern, PA (Onsite) / Brentwood, TN (Onsite)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Scrum Master with a strong Java development background to lead Agile teams in delivering high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise and Agile leadership, driving collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, facilitating ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.

  • Guide and coach the team on Agile/Scrum principles and best practices to ensure consistent delivery.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and QA teams to manage sprint goals, backlog prioritization, and release timelines.

  • Identify and remove impediments to team progress, ensuring smooth delivery cycles.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

  • Support Java-based application development projects, leveraging technical understanding to communicate effectively with developers.

  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and solution design sessions when required.

  • Track and report sprint metrics (velocity, burndown charts, etc.) to improve team performance.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of total experience in software development, with at least 3+ years as a Scrum Master.

  • Hands-on experience in Java / J2EE application development.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Experience in CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an asset.
