Job description

AVA Consulting is seeking a Technical Translator/Interpreter (Japanese/English and vice versa)

Location: Gardena, CA

Company Background: Our client, a major employer in the area, is looking for a FCD Technical Translator/Interpreter to be part of its team in its North American operations.

Job Description:

This position is a dual role. Resource will translate and interpret at various times

  • Translate (Japanese/English) and proofread vehicle specification books related to Client R&D.
  • Translate and proofread test procedure materials.
  • Translate and proofread various Technical Reports related to Client R&D
  • Work with the Translation Group in Client R&D to develop or improve translation job system
  • Support updating the Powertrain terminology of Client R&D.
  • Support meetings between Japanese and English speakers with consecutive/ simultaneous interpretation.
  • Interpret spoken communication accurately and neutrally, support technical terminology related to R&D, assist during meetings, presentations, Q&A, and site visits, clarify speaker intent when needed without adding opnion, maintain confidentiality for all Client R&D information

Requirements:

Candidates will need to have experience and understanding of the following:

  • Selected candidates will be required to complete a 20-Minute translation quiz
  • Work Schedule is Monday-Thursday in the office with Friday being an WFH option
  • 3 -5 years experience in translation (Japanese/English and vice versa)
  • Excellent language skills of both Japanese and English and good communication and interpersonal skills in order to create a good work relationship in team-work environment, and adopt the culture of Client Way
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to operate translation software, TRADOS
  • Ability to follow instructions written or otherwise
  • Ability to plan and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability and exceptional professionalism and judgment in interfacing effectively with associates and contingents at all levels
