Job description

Torden is seeking a qualified, experienced professional Japanese /Linguist Interpreter to support a training exercise at Joint Base Pearl Harbor (JBPH). The linguist/interpreter must be able to provide consecutive interpretation for Japanese Defense Force sailors participating in the exercise, as such knowledge and understanding of military and naval terminology is preferred. The Japanese Linguist/Interpreter must be flexible and willing to work long days to support the training schedule. Japanese Linguist/Interpreter must be willing and able to adhere to a rigorous training schedule, which may require standing or sitting for long periods of time. Training may encompass realistic scenarios. Linguist/Interpreter must be flexible and able to adapt to changing environment according to the training schedule. Requirements:
Must be able to pass an interpretation skills assessment test for Japanese to English and English to Japanese at a minimum score of 3, based on ILR standards.
Demonstrated ability to conduct accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation
Must be able to interpret on-demand for meetings and impromptu conversations.
Must have typing and computer skills
Must have strong understanding and vocabulary in military and naval terminology.
Must be able to commute to Joint Base Pearl Harbor.
Must be able to think quickly and work in a professional atmosphere as part of a team Security Requirements:
Department of Defense security clearance recommended.
Must be able to pass a counterintelligence (CI) focused screening interview.
Must be willing to undergo a background investigation. U.S. Citizenship
* Federal requirements mandate that all applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens.
* Priority will be given to applicants with active security clearances and recent CI interviews.
