Job description

We are seeking a Device and materials characterization scientist in our Brooklyn Park, MN location to perform and oversee materials and device characterization relating to our ion trap technologies.
This person will help develop, maintain and grow our characterization capabilities. They will also collaborate and embark on studies to better understand our existing technologies on the materials and device levels as well as help us find enabling materials and devices to accelerate our roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and grow our cryogenic and other test capabilities to support our ion trap fabrication group and other organizations across the company.
  • Identify new tools and vendors to help mature and accelerate our characterization capabilities. Work to provide planning and justification for procurement of new tools.
  • Support development and population of material properties databases to inform design and modeling efforts.
  • Develop collaborations that will enable rapid implementation of new materials and devices

YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree minimum
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience writing software for measurement and performing data analysis in Python, MatLab, LabView or other environments
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen

WE VALUE:
  • Advanced degree in Physics, Materials Science or Engineering preferred
  • Ability to develop and maintain test capabilities. This may include coordination of cryogenic handling, troubleshooting and proposing new instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, defend results and propose next steps.
  • Experience working with Capital equipment and service providers. Including defining specifications and procurement.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, R&D team environment.
  • Materials database development experience.

$133,000 - $166,000 a year

The pay range for this role is $133,000 - $166,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate's skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
