Area Manager

Position Overview:

The Area Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager in overseeing janitorial operations, staff performance, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing janitorial contracts, ensuring the highest levels of service and client satisfaction. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage complex operations.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for janitorial operations across assigned locations, ensuring alignment with company standards, contractual obligations, and long-term operational goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, by building strong relationships, meeting regularly to review performance, and addressing concerns to ensure service expectations are met.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs, ensuring service requirements are met, inspections are completed, deficiencies are addressed, and performance standards are consistently achieved.
  • Manage site-level budgets, including labor, supplies, and operational costs, ensuring financial performance and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and support Site Managers by setting expectations, monitoring performance, driving accountability, and improving operational efficiency through analysis, trend identification, and implementation of solutions.
  • Serve as the escalation point for significant operational or client issues, ensuring timely resolution in coordination with Site Managers.
  • Ensure consistent communication and alignment between clients, Site Managers, and janitorial staff.
  • Drive strategic planning, staffing models, and continuous improvement initiatives across the locations.
  • Travel throughout the area assigned to conduct site visits, meet with clients, and provide operational oversight across all locations
  • Collaborate with HR and administrative support to ensure proper onboarding/offboarding, completion of required training, payroll accuracy, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure full compliance with workplace safety regulations.
  • Be reasonably available outside of regular business hours to respond to urgent operational or safety issues, either remotely or in-person, depending on severity.

Qualifications and Physical Demands:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing janitorial contracts.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and performance management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to maintain positive client relationships.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing client accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Significant standing, walking, pushing, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, and crawling.
  • Must be able to work in varying environments and temperatures, including exposure to noise, heat, cold, and indoor/outdoor conditions.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and good driving record required.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds frequently.
