What You Will Do
As the Lead Worker - Janitorial, you will divide your time between leading the work of the janitorial team and performing custodial duties. Working closely with the Janitorial Supervisor, you will help ensure contract requirements are met while providing daily coaching and support to employees.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist the Janitorial Supervisor in directing, coordinating, and overseeing daily custodial operations.
  • Lead, train, and mentor employees, including individuals with significant disabilities, to develop workplace and job skills.
  • Assign daily work, distribute supplies and equipment, and inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform custodial services including cleaning offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, stairwells, elevators, and other assigned spaces.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and other powered cleaning equipment.
  • Clean floors, windows, fixtures, furniture, and other building surfaces using approved cleaning methods.
  • Restock restroom and janitorial supplies.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers throughout assigned facilities.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and request supplies as needed.
  • Address employee and customer concerns professionally, escalating issues to leadership when appropriate.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and productive work environment by following Didlake policies and safety procedures.
  • Serve as a dependable role model by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, strong work ethic, and excellent customer service.
  • Complete all required training and maintain compliance with company and contract requirements.
  • When required by the contract, perform snow and ice removal from walkways, entrances, and loading areas using snow removal equipment and de-icing materials.
  • Report to work during inclement weather and scheduled contract outages as required. This position is considered essential personnel.

What You Bring
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one (1) year of recent commercial custodial or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or training employees preferred.
  • Experience working with or supporting individuals with disabilities is a plus.

Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and custodial supplies.
  • Ability to operate powered custodial equipment safely.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions and documentation.
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams while providing respectful support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required security clearance.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality service, and Didlake's mission of inclusion.
  • Have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Didlake's automobile policy. Requirements include but are not limited to a minimum of 3 years of licensed driving and being at least 25 years old.
