Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Physician Assistant - Cardiology to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) has 213 licensed beds. To this day, Jacobi and NCB remain respected leaders in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women's health. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Jacobi Medical Center is an American College of Surgeons verified Level I Trauma Center. The highly academic Cardiology division at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant to provide high quality treatment at all points of care within our Cardiac Catheterization and Endovascular program. We recently received PCI certification and are in the final stages of building a state-of-the-art lab and renovating our old lab. Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab serves many roles including diagnostic catheterization, coronary intervention, and a very robust Endovascular Interventional program with its own dedicated fellowship that is a model of collaboration between Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Surgery. In addition, we have a growing volume of EP device implants (Pacemakers, ICD, BiV ) that are performed by a highly skilled Electrophysiologist. We are the first and only Hospital within NYC Health + Hospitals and only hospital in the Bronx with a Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) which utilizes the Catheterization Lab to deliver advanced therapies (suction embolectomy, catheter directed lysis).
This position requires teamwork, flexibility, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
ON-Call is required for this position. We're committed to meeting your expectations and will invest in your training by providing one-on-one mentorship with our Interventional Cardiologists, ability to be first assist at the table, and an environment in which to succeed.
Opportunity Details:
  • Perform a detailed and accurate history and physical examination.
  • Develop treatment plans in conjunction with Attending Physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
  • Order laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures as per Attending's recommendation.
  • Follow up and document pertinent progress of patients, update and summarize charts, write orders and progress notes, and notify Attending Physician of changes in patient's condition on a daily basis and when appropriate.
  • Assist during Cardiac Catheterizations and Endovascular Interventions at every level - pre-procedure, intra-procedural, procedural, and post-procedure.
  • Participates in continuing medical education, team conferences, and lectures for the service.
  • Post-procedure, assist in the care of patients by monitoring their recovery, ordering and reviewing lab tests, and addressing post-procedure complications.
  • Participates in patient education and discharge process.
  • Requires on-call and the ability to get to the hospital within 30 minutes for STEMI.
  • Current NYS registration as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification issued by the NCCPA.
  • Must be ACLS/BLS certified.
  • Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab and Endovascular procedures preferred. However, this position is open for new PA graduates interested in growing their knowledge base.

Wages and Benefits include:
Annual Base Salary: $131,127* - $174,836* based on 40-hour work week and years of State Licensure.
The annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $144,239** - $192,319**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
