Senior Java AWS Developer
About the Role
As a Senior Java AWS Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and delivering scalable cloud-native applications using Java and AWS technologies. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, DevOps engineers, product owners, business stakeholders, and fellow developers to build secure, high-performing enterprise solutions.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java and AWS technologies.
  • Build and maintain scalable REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.
  • Develop and integrate modern web applications using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to application modernization initiatives.
  • Drive application performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Perform code reviews, mentor developers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to CI/CD automation and cloud transformation initiatives.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in a Cognizant or client office in Atlanta, Georgia or Minneapolis, Minnesota. What You Need to Have to Be Considered
  • 9+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java development and AWS.
  • Extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Microservices.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting applications on AWS.
  • Experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM, and VPC.
  • Strong experience building RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Experience with Angular and TypeScript development.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

These Will Help You Stand Out
  • AWS Certified Developer Associate or AWS Solutions Architect certification.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, SNS, or other messaging platforms.
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, application security standards, and OWASP best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS-native deployment services.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, Splunk, Dynatrace, or ELK.
  • Exposure to event-driven architecture and modern cloud integration patterns.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position depends on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
