Job description

Summary

The Embryologist performs all standard laboratory procedures for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), and Preimplantation Genetic Testing.  The andrology component includes semen analysis and sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination (IUI) and IVF.

This position will work rotating weekends and holidays.

Job Duties
  • Performs all embryology laboratory procedures.
  • Demonstrates sufficient competency in embryology and andrology procedures needed for in-vitro fertilization and IUI.
  • Identifies and collects oocytes for insemination (ICSI and Conventional IVF).
  • Analyzes and prepares specimens for insemination or for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). This includes oocyte denudation and the assessment of oocyte maturity.
  • Cultures media and dish preparation for all IVF procedures. 
  • Assesses fertilization and zygote quality following insemination.
  • Performs daily embryo and blastocyst grading and handling of embryos.
  • Prepares embryos for intrauterine transfer.
  • Performs cryopreservation and thawing of embryos at varying stages of development.
  • Performs cryopreservation and thawing of oocytes.
  • Performs embryo biopsy.
  • Ensures IVF laboratory quality assurance and control.
  • Performs maintenance of laboratory documentation.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Performs clerical tasks diligently and follow established protocols and laboratory guidelines.
  • Imports IVF cycle information into our clinic EMR, Ideas, and entering charges into EPIC for the IVF Lab.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate patient logs and laboratory reports.
  • Communicates detailed information to patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Performs other duties related to ART as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.  
  • Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in human in vitro fertilization procedures.
