Position Summary:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports to the Division Controller and is responsible for advancing supply chain excellence, eliminating constraints for the division and its customers, and supporting enterprise-wide sourcing and supply chain strategies.

The Strategic Sourcing Manager generates positive business results through a fit for purpose supply chain and its key elements: plan, procure, make and deliver. Considers and adapts to ever-changing market and business conditions to ensure a high level of service to end customers.

Primary responsibilities:

Supply Chain Risk Identification & Mitigation

  • Identify major supply chain risks across direct and indirect raw material categories (e.g. resins and components) and suppliers (manufacturers, distributors and 3rd party services).

  • Conduct and maintain risk assessments and implement mitigation plans; establish review cadences with key stakeholders.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Conduct supplier assessments, capability reviews, and performance evaluations.

  • Review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts and long-term agreements to ensure favorable terms.

Supply Chain Audits & Segmentation

  • Perform supply chain audits, assess cost, complexity, and feasibility of supplier or material changes.

  • Establish differentiation between our approach to “80” and “20” vendors and products, to also capture and define our approach toward future business. Partner with commercial team to ensure strategy is in place for evaluation of future and growth opportunities, relative to our prioritized opportunity list.

Vendor Performance & Lead Time Management

  • Track and manage supplier lead times and performance KPIs (quality, cost, delivery, service).

  • Develop corrective actions and improvement plans with vendors.

Cost Management & Leverage

  • Track material spend for “80” materials, including annual price impacts, cost drivers, indices, and mitigation strategies.

  • Leverage economies of scale across divisions to reduce total cost of ownership.

Cross-Site Process Alignment

  • Align and evaluate purchasing and ordering processes across Hebron, Washington, NCW, and other sites relative to MRD requirements.

  • Standardize sourcing workflows, tools, and best practices across locations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with plant managers, operations leaders, and purchasing teams to ensure sourcing strategy supports operational needs.

  • Engage with R&D and Engineering to understand technology roadmaps and identify innovative sourcing opportunities.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Lead LRP/AP (Long-Range Planning/Annual Plan) activities for the sourcing function, including prioritization, project selection, and strategy execution.

  • Identify and commit to high-value sourcing projects rather than narrowly targeting AP numbers.

End-to-End Supply Chain Optimization

  • Map end-to-end supply chains to identify critical relationships, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Drive simplification and elimination of low-value activities to improve efficiency and responsiveness.

Long-Lead Time & Strategic Material Management

  • Drive simplification and elimination of low-value activities to improve efficiency and responsiveness.

Continuous Improvement & Opportunity Discovery

  • Apply critical thinking and curiosity to uncover new sourcing opportunities beyond surface-level issues.

  • Explore creative solutions with existing suppliers and evaluate potential new suppliers for capability and innovation.

  • Collaborates and communicates within the ITW structure – division, platform or segment(s) to deliver on defined goals/measurables and other strategic initiatives.

  • Leverages strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvement to meet and/or exceed business expectations.

  • Maintains a flexible disposition to shift between strategic planning and executing short term needs.

Other responsibilities

  • Project Management – self manages the planning and execution of key sourcing projects ranging from creating a long-range cost savings pipeline, tracking existing project savings, executing RFQs and qualifying new suppliers.

  • Commodity market knowledge – synthesizes market intelligence, spend data, and other business data to develop objective points of view around commodities and 3rd party services. Subsequently, develops or engages ITW resources to create compelling and actionable sourcing strategies.

  • Data mining and analysis – competent in organizing, cleaning and analyzing data; extracts meaningful insights to drive action.

  • Business Acumen – Considers the trade-offs between producing finished goods and the cost of inputs – raw materials and/or services. Leverages data to guide business decisions with finance and business stakeholders.

Experience and Education Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree.  Master’s Degree, NAPM (APP, CPM) or APICS (CPIM, CIRM) certification preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of broad sourcing leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing organization, across a multi-location or global business.

  • Managed at least $30M+ in annualized spend in direct materials

  • Strong track record of financial data analysis, budget planning, inventory management, driving procurement strategies and reducing overall material costs.

  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote staff.

  • Proven results in managing and developing talent.

  • Willing to travel, primarily domestic, occasionally international.

Compensation Information:

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, market level, other job-related factors, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. As applicable this role will also receive overtime compensation and may be eligible for shift premium compensation.

Pay Range: $110,000-140,000

Vacation - up to 120 hours within first year

Sick - up to 40 hours of time within first year

Floating Holiday - up to 8 hours of time within first year
