We are hiring an IT Support Engineer to join our team located in Washington, DC.
As the IT Support Engineer you will:
  • Actively identify repetitive manual tasks, ticket trends, and system inefficiencies to design automated solutions; develop, test, and maintain robust scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to reduce system overhead and automate routine IT workflows.
  • Leverage REST APIs to connect disparate IT tools, software, and administrative systems, streamlining operations, pulling metrics, and ensuring seamless data synchronization.
  • Optimize and manage automated employee onboarding and offboarding workflows-including laptop provisioning (macOS/Windows) via MDM tools (Jamf, Intune) and maintaining SSO, directory systems, and corporate SaaS application access controls (Okta, Azure AD).
  • Diagnose and resolve complex multi-platform hardware, software, and local network issues for hybrid and distributed teams, ensuring that the root cause of every major issue is evaluated for a permanent, automated fix.
  • Support network engineering with basic VLAN routing, secure Wi-Fi deployment, and VPN provisioning, while monitoring alerts across security firewalls, intrusion detection networks, and endpoint security layers (EDR/SIEM).
  • Oversee and automate physical security and badge access systems to ensure badge provisioning on day one and revocation upon offboarding.
  • Maintain clear documentation for all automated workflows, scripts, and infrastructure changes, utilizing basic Git commands to share and manage administrative source code across the IT team.
  • Assist in routine security patch management audits and corporate compliance validation to ensure endpoint security standards are met.

Essential Qualifications for this position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Prior professional work experience as an IT Support Engineer operating a support desk
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing rules) and operating system internals.
  • Ability to modify and execute scripts written in Python or a comparable language to automate workflows.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include:
  • Prior professional work experience in a start-up organization
  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $75,000 - $85,000 for candidates working from the State Affairs office in Washington, DC. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
