Summary:

The IT Support Technician provides responsive, hands-on technology support to faculty, staff, and students. This position serves as the first point of contact for day-to-day technology needs and assists with troubleshooting, maintaining, deploying, and supporting computers, student devices, classroom technology, printers, software, accounts, and related technology resources.

The IT Support Technician works under the direction of the Director of Technology and focuses primarily on user support, equipment maintenance, and resolving routine technology issues throughout the school.

Category:  Full-time hourly contract basis

Reports To:  Director of Technology

Min./Max. Hours per week:  40

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience providing technical support in a school, business, or similar environment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, Chromebooks, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with printers, classroom technology, audiovisual equipment, wireless connectivity, and basic networking.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to assist users with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and work independently when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively and patiently with children and adults.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and the mission and values of the Catholic school.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide timely and professional technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Troubleshoot computers, laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, printers, projectors, interactive displays, audiovisual equipment, and other classroom technology.
  • Assist users with software, email, accounts, passwords, printing, applications, connectivity, and other routine technology issues.
  • Set up, configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot school-owned technology equipment.
  • Support student devices, including device check-in/check-out, loaner devices, repairs, and classroom device sets.
  • Maintain accurate technology inventory and assist with equipment replacement, repair, warranty service, retirement, and disposal.
  • Prepare technology equipment and accounts for new employees, classrooms, and school programs.
  • Assist with user access to school systems, applications, online curriculum resources, and other technology platforms.
  • Troubleshoot basic network, wireless, and connectivity issues and refer more complex issues to the Director of Technology or appropriate service provider.
  • Support classroom and instructional technology and assist teachers and students with technology issues that interfere with instruction or learning.
  • Assist with technology installations, upgrades, software deployments, and other projects as directed by the Director of Technology.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of equipment, support issues, and procedures.
  • Follow school policies regarding cybersecurity, privacy, confidentiality, data protection, and acceptable technology use.
  • Provide patient, courteous, and customer-focused service to all members of the school community.
  • Perform other technology support duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires regular movement throughout the school campus and the ability to lift, carry, set up, and move computers and other technology equipment. The IT Support Technician must be available to respond to technology needs in classrooms, offices, and other areas of the school throughout the school day.
