Job description

Hybrid contract role in Birmingham, AL for an IT Project Manager with hands-on Jira skills, experience managing projects with various languages and PMP. In this role you will interact closely with the business and upper management and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and within scope.
Contract Duration: 6 months +
Required Skills & Experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • Jira, project planning (MS project or Clarizen/AdaptiveWork), transitioning between platforms (on prem to a cloud solution)
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related technical field degree
  • 4 years of Information Technology (IT) experience with at least 2 years being IT project management experience working in a structured project environment
  • Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and hardware
  • Excellent knowledge and competence in project management methodologies
  • Experience using MS Project, MS Office or similar applications
  • Experience leading and working independently as an IT Project Manager on large scale corporate projects or initiatives
  • Experience with project management (PM) or Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools, along with PM techniques and methodologies
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting
  • Experience with project risk and issue management
  • Experience with change management and process improvement
  • Experience educating, training and mentoring project teams
  • Solid communication and relationship building skills

What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, guide and implement IT projects and programs which support Corporate strategic objectives
  • Utilize divisional standard project management methodology and solution delivery method to ensure proper performance and execution when completing projects
  • Create positive, professional relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Analyze technical and business processes and implement improvements
  • Consistently provide visibility into projects and report progress of projects to management and governing bodies
  • Manage risks and issues that occur during project lifecycle including strategic direction
  • Mentor, educate and train project teams, team members and fellow PMs on project management best practices
  • Delegate tasks to appropriate IT PMs and ensure completion of tasks
  • Attend technical training sessions and classes as required
  • Analyze and review Information Technology Project Office (ITPO) metrics and key performance indicators of various IT efforts across different solution demographics including size and risk
