The Senior IT Project Manager leads large, complex technology initiatives with significant business impact. This role is responsible for endtoend delivery across crossfunctional teams, ensuring that projects and programs are executed with excellence, risks are proactively managed, and stakeholders receive clear and consistent communication throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Senior IT Project Managers operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence strategic decisions, and help strengthen project delivery discipline across IT. This role partners closely with business leaders, architects, engineering, finance, and PMO leadership to ensure alignment, transparency, and delivery of expected outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Delivery Leadership

  • Lead large-scale, complex IT projects and multi-workstream programs with cross-functional dependencies.
  • Develop and manage detailed schedules, scope, budgets, risks, and interdependencies.
  • Proactively identify delivery risks, drive mitigation strategies, and escalate when necessary.
  • Intervene early to stabilize atrisk work and ensure successful execution.
  • Ensure adherence to standard project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).

Stakeholder Management & Executive Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project executives, business owners, and technical leaders.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and executiveready updates on health, milestones, risks, and decisions.
  • Facilitate steering committee and governance meetings for assigned initiatives.
  • Build trusted partnerships across technology and business areas.

CrossFunctional Coordination & Dependency Management

  • Coordinate across multiple teams to manage crossproject dependencies and readiness checkpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, portfolio management, finance, and operations.
  • Align project execution with broader program or portfolio objectives.
  • Ensure that teams understand how their deliverables integrate into the larger initiative.

Project Governance & Delivery Discipline

  • Apply strong expertise in SDLC, ITIL, and industry-standard PM practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes, templates, and tools.
  • Champion transparency, accuracy, and consistency in status reporting.
  • Maintain rigorous control over scope, schedule, quality, and financials.

Thought Leadership & Strategic Influence

  • Offer guidance to junior PMs and project coordinators as a senior practitioner.
  • Influence project planning, technical approach, and solution delivery strategy including overall business value strategy
  • Identify systemic risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities across initiatives.
  • Represent delivery excellence values and reinforce PMO standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of IT project management experience
  • 3+ experience delivering concurrent complex technical initiatives endtoend
  • 1+ years' experience with technical product selection, design, and IT solution implementation preferrably in health, finance, or other highly regulated industries
  • Excellent communication including executive level
  • 3+ years' experience with SDLC Project Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business or related field
  • Experience with management tools including Jira Align, Microsoft Azure devops, PowerBI, Servicenow PPM
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Python, ETL work, data projects, web projects, or backend API development.
  • Certifications: PMP, PMIACP, SAFe, Six Sigma, or comparable

Additional Information

This position follows a Hybrid work style (2-3 days a week in office). The candidate must live close to one of our designated IT locations: Louisville, KY; Tampa, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Boston, MA; Washington, D.C: Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, Chicago, IL, or Charlotte, NC.

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
