Position Summary

Morris Business Solutions is seeking an experienced and technically capable IT Project Manager to join our MBS IT division.

This position will manage MSP client onboardings, hardware deployments, VoIP implementations, infrastructure upgrades, and other internal and client-facing IT projects. The IT Project Manager will coordinate clients, technicians, vendors, carriers, procurement, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and within the approved scope.

The ideal candidate will combine strong project management and communication skills with enough technical knowledge to evaluate client needs and help engineer practical, supportable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Document users, devices, servers, networks, Microsoft 365 environments, vendors, and applications.

  • Set expectations regarding timelines, responsibilities, support procedures, and next steps.

  • Complete the final handoff to the MBS IT support team.

Hardware and Infrastructure Projects

  • Manage workstation, server, firewall, network, wireless, and hardware deployment projects.

  • Coordinate equipment ordering, staging, configuration, installation, and testing.

  • Confirm equipment compatibility with the client’s environment and business requirements.

  • Coordinate user scheduling, data migration, profile setup, software installation, and device replacement.

  • Minimize disruption to client operations during implementation.

  • Ensure equipment is inventoried, labeled, documented, secured, and properly supported.

  • Verify successful operation and obtain client approval before project closure.

VoIP Onboarding and Implementation

  • Manage new and existing client VoIP implementations.

  • Gather requirements for users, extensions, phone numbers, call flows, auto attendants, hunt groups, voicemail, paging, and faxing.

  • Coordinate number porting, carrier communication, temporary numbers, equipment, and installation scheduling.

  • Work with clients to design call flows that support their business operations.

  • Identify network, firewall, cabling, bandwidth, switching, and power requirements.

  • Communicate timelines, carrier dependencies, client responsibilities, and possible service interruptions.

  • Coordinate testing, training, cutover, issue resolution, and client approval.

  • Document the completed VoIP system and transition it to support.

Solution Engineering and Technical Discovery

  • Participate in client discovery meetings.

  • Evaluate client environments, business requirements, risks, and technical dependencies.

  • Assist in designing solutions involving Microsoft 365, servers, networks, cybersecurity, backups, cloud services, hardware, and VoIP.

  • Translate business needs into practical technical recommendations.

  • Assist with bills of materials, labor estimates, project scopes, and implementation plans.

  • Work with sales and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are complete and supportable.

  • Clearly identify assumptions, exclusions, prerequisites, and client responsibilities.

Internal Projects and Process Improvement

  • Manage internal MBS IT projects, platform migrations, documentation initiatives, and process improvements.

  • Coordinate priorities and resources with MBS IT leadership.

  • Help create and improve project templates, checklists, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

  • Review completed projects and identify opportunities to improve future delivery.

Client Communication

  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned projects.

  • Communicate schedules, progress, risks, delays, and required decisions.

  • Set clear and realistic expectations.

  • Explain technical information in language clients can understand.

  • Document approvals, requested changes, and outstanding responsibilities.

  • Escalate significant client concerns or relationship risks to leadership.

  • Maintain a professional, positive, and solutions-focused approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of professional IT experience.

  • Experience managing or coordinating technology projects.

  • Experience working for an MSP or supporting multiple business clients.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams

    • Workstations and servers

    • Networks, firewalls, and wireless systems

    • Cybersecurity and backup solutions

    • Business VoIP systems

  • Strong organization, scheduling, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Ability to work effectively with clients, technicians, vendors, sales, and leadership.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client locations.

  • Experience with ConnectWise Manage, IT Glue, or similar platforms.
