Job description

Position Description
Manage the governance process for the portfolio of IT projects and programs. Oversee the implementation of large, complex, high cost and high risk IT projects and programs. Author project management practices, processes, templates and tools. Program the features, functionality, and information paths associated with project management forms, templates, processes and tools. Provide formal project management training to IT Project Managers. Evaluate active IT projects for adherence to scope, schedule, budget and process. Produce specialized reports to identify performance trends and outcomes for measuring project success.
Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate projects and project management within the IT Division.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of IT project management standards at the University, including training.
  • Assist the University with Texas Project Delivery Framework compliance, including training.
  • Assist non-IT Division Departments with IT Project management guidelines, including training.
  • Coordinate compliance with Texas Administrative Code Title 1, Part 10, Chapter 216 standards for project management.
  • Maintain project management templates and project documentation/metrics.
  • Adheres to all appropriate Institutional policies (including IT OPs) and other relevant internal departmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or by the CIO.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Full project life cycle experience on IT projects.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal seven years.
This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure. Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews.
