Job description


Primary purpose:
The IT Project Manager II manages the design and delivery of complex application and IT infrastructure solutions. Typical projects are between $1 million and $3 million dollars in total capital and span from 9-24 months.
This position manages and oversees all aspects of a technology project to ensure it is completed on-time and within budget. Has overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing and outside vendors, and contractual deliverable. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project. Possesses strong knowledge of technology.
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Plan, control and execute project requirements to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Work with IT managers to staff projects.
  • Mentor IT staff to help improve their project management skills.
  • Define and communicate roles for project team members (functional-technical).
  • Establish project budget, track spend and communicate current and project burn rates.
  • Work with internal customers and technical resources to develop project plans, detailing work break down structures and critical path.
  • Work with internal customers and technical resources to develop project briefs and project scoping documents.
  • Ensure that requirements are contained within defined scope.
  • Perform risk management planning, risk identification and mitigation.
  • Manage internal customer and external supplier deliverables.
  • Develop communication strategies and lead communications with key stakeholders.
  • Document and drive issues through resolution, escalating to internal customer, supplier and IT management as necessary.
  • Involves working in a highly matrixed organization spanning many locations.
  • Involves complex process and organizational change management.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • A minimum of four (4) years project management experience and four (4) years of direct work experience in IT.
  • Deep experience managing projects through Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Moderate proficiency providing IT support for applications, and network or server administration
  • Moderate proficiency with software and security architectures
  • Experience in effectively communicating business and technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working on multiple assignments during the same time frame juggling tasks based on relative priorities with supervision commensurate with grade level.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Project Management certification (i.e. PMP, PgMP) required.

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
  • Analytical thinker able to utilize functional understanding of the various components of systems in conjunction with technical knowledge to identify effective and efficient problem resolutions.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills; must communicate effectively with all levels of company personnel.
  • Ability to drive Executive level Steering Committee discussions focused on trade-off decisions, resource constraints, budgeting, etc.
  • Ability to work well both individually with minimal supervision and in a team environment where the sharing of knowledge is highly regarded and expected.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Good Interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate systems requirements verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.

Working Conditions:

  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Informal mentor role.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Project Management certification (PMP, etc.)
  • Prefer hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion (ERP, HCM, EPM, Risk Management, and/or Financials modules)

Compensation:
  • The annual salary range for this position will be $109,360-$136,700/yr.
