Job description

Job Title: IT Technical Project Lead II
Location: Greenville, SC (Onsite)-Long Term Project
Employment Type: W2 Only

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Passive IT Infrastructure projects from initiation through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities across internal teams, vendors, contractors, and business stakeholders.
  • Translate technical Passive IT Infrastructure requirements into actionable project plans and workstreams.
  • Oversee installation, upgrades, and deployment of structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, telecommunications rooms, and data center infrastructure projects.
  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement activities as required.
  • Facilitate project meetings, status reporting, stakeholder communications, and executive updates.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and project governance requirements.
  • Support change management, testing, cutover planning, and project closeout activities.
  • Review technical documentation, project designs, and implementation plans to ensure quality and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Passive IT Infrastructure, including:
    • Structured cabling systems
    • Fiber optic infrastructure
    • Copper cabling systems
    • Patch panels and cross-connects
    • Telecommunications rooms and data centers
    • Racks, pathways, and cable management systems
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Ability to translate technical infrastructure requirements into project deliverables and execution plans.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing project schedules, risks, budgets, and resource planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management certification.
  • Experience with data center build-outs, site deployments, or large-scale infrastructure upgrades.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, and ISO cabling standards.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
  • ITIL certification or familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of IT Project Management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading Passive IT Infrastructure or Physical Network Infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex infrastructure projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
