Optum's EHR Services represents one of the fastest growing practices within Optum Insight's Advisory and Implementations business unit. The EHR Services practice is comprised of 600 individuals across the U.S. and Ireland who are dedicated to improving the healthcare delivery system through the power of healthcare technology, specifically, the EHR and integrated applications and tools. By joining the EHR Services team, you'll partner with some of the most gifted healthcare technology thought leaders within the industry, collaborate with experienced consulting and healthcare leaders, and help partners capture the benefits of their EHR investment.

As an Epic Technical Associate, you'll learn to perform work that has strategic importance to our clients and have an opportunity to grow your skills in healthcare IT and learn the Epic technical ecosystem through strong mentorship and formal learning opportunities. You'll be asked to leverage your existing curiosity in IT and healthcare to meet client needs and be a tactical part of solutions and ongoing EHR operations. 

Successful candidates will need an entry-level technical background in IT (networking, storage, compute, virtualization, data center operations, cloud computing, end-user devices, etc.) and a curiosity for healthcare IT and EHR infrastructure. Strong candidates for this role will be able to demonstrate self-motivation, individual leadership, team collaboration, and a strong curiosity and desire to stay up on the constantly evolving technology world. Most importantly, our EHR Services team fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion and drives innovation for our company and our clients.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • At the direction of the larger Epic technical team, perform tasks and project work in support of the ongoing maintenance of an Epic environment
  • Work on client systems to perform analysis, build, and remediation
  • Become knowledgeable about the Epic technical infrastructure and end-user device ecosystem
  • Under the mentorship and direction of Sr. Consultants and Directors, perform complicated build tasks, build and participate in application and infrastructure testing sessions, do routine validations of critical systems, use checklists and build guides to ensure compliance with annual reporting requirements
  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions
  • Participate in technical projects and initiatives, and work on client systems under the direction of senior project team members
  • Create and ensure accuracy of deliverables including presentations and spreadsheets; interface with other areas of the business as necessary
  • Ensure prompt escalation of challenges/issues that will impact the business and initiative delivery
  • Interface with Epic staff in troubleshooting system issues
  • Participate in regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in relevant weekly team meetings
  • Develop an understanding of technical client and Epic system needs
  • Ensure timely communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, and upcoming milestones

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 years in data center or enterprise IT delivery
  • Experience working as part of a project team
  • Intermediate proficiency with Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Must be willing to travel up to 100% at times due to business needs 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 years experience in healthcare technology, preferably supporting EHRs and EHR IT Infrastructure with direct end user contact
  • 1 years Epic technical/infrastructure/database administration experience
  • Epic Systems knowledge or certification in client server infrastructure, database administration, or other relevant technical area
  • Experience working in an Agile, Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement driven environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
