JOB SPECIFICS
The IT Network Administrator is responsible for providing support, maintenance, and administration for various County Local, Wide Area, and Wireless Networks. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Optimizing the performance of information technology systems within an enterprise network environment; including monitoring performance, troubleshooting network issues and/or outages, and the scheduling upgrades.
  • Assisting in the implementation and management of LAN/WAN and Wireless networks.
  • Performs adds, moves, and changes to the network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and VLANs.
  • Conducts regular and periodic maintenance on the network infrastructure to ensure smooth, efficient operations and maximum network availability is maintained.
  • Maintaining inventory and documentation of all deployed equipment including asset tracking, management, and removal/disposal of all decommissioned devices. Conduct an inventory assessment as requested.
  • Ensures project support and performance requirements are met for the County's departments and remote facilities.
  • Participate in the coordination of systems activities and communications, systems planning, design and development, and systems hardware and software projects.
  • Assist in data backup, disaster recovery, and response to security breaches, service interruptions, and other critical situations.
  • Maintain support standards, guidelines, and procedures for software and hardware.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
  • Paid work experience configuring, tracking, and managing switches.
  • Paid work experience configuring, deploying, and managing wireless access points and wireless networks.
  • Paid work experience configuring and maintaining VLANS in an environment with more than 10 VLANs.
  • Paid work experience configuring, maintaining, and patching firewalls.
  • Paid work experience supporting VOIP, including end users and devices, softphones, hunt groups, and calling trees.
  • Paid work experience configuring and maintaining two or more VPNs.
  • Paid work experience configuring CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) network traffic flow in a blended CJIS/non-CJIS environment.

SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
HOURS / DAYS: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm M-F with occasional after-hours and weekend maintenance and support. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.
ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE:: $34.94- $41.31 Hourly

JOB SUMMARY
The IT Communications Network Analyst operates monitors and maintains communications network facilities, evaluates, installs and tests network components and services and resolves user network issues or network malfunctions.
EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and four (4) years of experience installing, operating or maintaining communications network/telecom hardware or software; OR, an Associate degree in Information Technology or related field and six (6) years of experience installing, operating or maintaining communications network/telecom hardware or software; OR, an equivalent combination of education and job-related work experience that totals eight (8) years of experience installing, operating or maintaining communications network/telecom hardware or software.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide network communications support:
โ€ข Operate communications network facilities (links, routing and switching systems), network monitoring and control facilities;
โ€ข Monitor and implement network use and security protocols;
โ€ข Administer networks (LAN, WAN, Wireless networks);
โ€ข Analyze, monitor and troubleshoot network systems;
โ€ข Resolve network malfunctions;
โ€ข Maintain network infrastructure, hardware, software, services and configurations;
โ€ข Install and test network components and services;
โ€ข Evaluate new hardware and software for completeness and compatibility with existing systems;
โ€ข Create and maintain required network hardware and software installation and maintenance documentation;
โ€ข Manage remote access (VPN, Citrix, Cell Phone Air cards);
โ€ข Monitor data center and data closet mechanical equipment (UPS, HVAC/CRAC units, Fire Suppression systems);
โ€ข Maintain High Availability system;
โ€ข Maintain network support standards, guidelines and procedures;
โ€ข Perform scheduled backups for network appliances;
โ€ข Perform technology needs analysis;
โ€ข Oversee hardware procurement, asset tracking, management and disposal of all network appliances;
โ€ข Conduct annual inventory;
Provide support for telecommunications equipment.
โ€ข Administer host system for telephony appliances;
โ€ข Maintain voice mail trees and ACD groups;
โ€ข Support TDM and VoIP telephony platforms;
โ€ข Support adds, moves, and changes of call features and voice mail boxes;
โ€ข Manage support of mobile devices;
โ€ข Monitor systems using trend analysis and capacity planning;
โ€ข Establish and monitor critical check points,
โ€ข Provide thresholds and criteria for management exception reporting;
โ€ข Perform scheduled backups for telecom appliances;
โ€ข Perform technology needs analysis;
โ€ข Oversee hardware procurement, asset tracking, management and disposal of all network appliances;
โ€ข Conduct annual inventory; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work will involve remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, although the incumbent will need to move about inside the office to access files or equipment from time to time, and may occasionally need to travel to other sites to perform work or interact with other professionals. The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment, via keyboard, mouse, touch screen, or other Human Interface Device (HID) is required. The incumbent will be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around an office environment, assigned to changing priorities and occasionally required to work outside of typical business hours to meet project deadlines, or be available on an on-call basis for special projects or to provide support. The incumbent may occasionally need to move or transport moderately heavy objects, such as computer equipment and peripheral, unbox, install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair computer equipment, position themselves to inspect and maintain computer equipment under desks, beneath raised flooring, above suspended ceiling, in data closets, cabling channels/trees, or equipment racks.
