Job description

Lead the teams, technologies, and innovation that power Hayes Locums' cloud infrastructure, software delivery, and future growth.

Hayes Locums is seeking a hands-on IT Manager, Infrastructure & Software Delivery to lead the teams responsible for our cloud infrastructure, systems operations, and in-house software development. This is a player-coach leadership role for someone who has come up through the technical ranks, such as an engineer or administrator, and grown into leadership while remaining deeply engaged with the technology and building high-performing teams.

You will oversee two complementary functions: the Infrastructure & Operations team (systems administration, cloud operations, observability, and security operations) and the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) team (software development, DevOps, business analysis, and automation) that build and run our React-based client portal and supporting integrations.

Above all, the ideal candidate is security-conscious by default, treating security and compliance (NIST, SOC 2 Type 2) as a core part of everyday engineering and operations rather than an afterthought. Reporting to the VP of IT & Cyber Security, you will be accountable for delivery, uptime, security, and compliance across both teams while partnering closely with Cybersecurity, Salesforce, and business stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to play a highly visible role in Hayes Locums' technology strategy, leading a talented cross-functional team while overseeing the infrastructure and software platforms that support our client experience and internal operations. You'll work with modern cloud-native technologies in a security-focused environment and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future growth and scalability of our organization.

What You Will Do
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow the Infrastructure and SDLC teams by conducting 1:1s, providing coaching, managing performance, supporting hiring efforts, and fostering career development while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud Operations: Own the stability, performance, and scalability of our multicloud environment (predominantly Microsoft Azure with limited AWS), spanning Windows and Linux systems, containerized workloads, and serverless architectures.
  • Software Delivery (SDLC): Direct the end-to-end development and delivery of the React-based client portal and its integrations (Salesforce, Tableau, MuleSoft), ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Oversee fully automated Azure DevOps pipelines, release management, and infrastructure-as-code, driving toward secure, reliable, and frequent deployments.
  • Security & Compliance: Champion a security-first culture across both teams; partner with Cybersecurity to embed security into systems and the software development lifecycle, maintain adherence to NIST and SOC 2 Type 2, and support vulnerability remediation and audits.
  • Observability & Incident Response: Ensure a mature monitoring and alerting stack (New Relic, Azure Monitor, LogicMonitor, PagerDuty) and effective incident response so issues are identified and resolved before they impact clients.
  • Project & Delivery Management: Plan, prioritize, and deliver cross-functional initiatives using Agile methodologies and Monday.com, balancing operational workload against project commitments.
  • Hands-On Technical Contribution: Stay technically engaged by reviewing architecture and pull requests, troubleshooting escalations, and setting technical standards while leading the team by example.
  • Vendor & Tooling Management: Manage key vendors and platforms, evaluate tooling, and optimize spend across the infrastructure and development toolchain.
  • Documentation & Process Maturity: Champion documentation, SOPs, and repeatable processes that reduce key-person dependency and support audits, onboarding, and team alignment.
Work Schedule

Your regular work schedule will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hayes Locums offers schedule flexibility for this position based on business needs and team coverage requirements. Due to the leadership responsibilities and operational demands of the position, additional hours beyond the standard schedule may be required to support critical technology initiatives, system implementations, infrastructure maintenance, production incidents, network outages, and other business-critical events.

This position is eligible for one remote workday per week following successful completion of a 90-day training period, subject to maintaining good standing and manager approval.

Compensation

$100,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, and/or software development, including progression through technical roles.
  • Leadership/Management: 2+ years leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Technical Breadth:Demonstrated strong familiarity or hands-on experience across both infrastructure and software delivery, including:
    • Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure (AWS a plus); Windows Server administration with Linux support
    • Scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
    • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (e.g., Azure DevOps) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
    • Modern application development and architecture (e.g., ReactJS front-end; Node.js, Java, .NET, or Python back-end)
    • Integrations and API management (e.g., Salesforce, MuleSoft, REST APIs)
    • Databases such as Postgres, MongoDB, and Redis
    • Observability/monitoring (e.g., New Relic, Azure Monitor, LogicMonitor) and incident management (e.g., PagerDuty, Zendesk)
    • Identity and access management (e.g., Okta, Auth0, Microsoft Entra)
  • Security-Conscious Mindset:Treats security and compliance as a core part of day-to-day engineering and operations; familiar with frameworks and standards such as NIST and SOC 2 Type 2.
  • Leadership:Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical staff and to manage priorities and delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Soft Skills:Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work Authorization:Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, O-1, or other employment-based work authorization).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, ITIL, CISSP or Security+, PMP or Scrum).
  • Experience managing both operations and development teams in a cloud-native, compliance-driven environment.
  • Containerization and orchestration experience (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to cybersecurity platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Qualys, Varonis).
  • Experience supporting RPA or workflow-automation initiatives.
  • Prior experience operating in a SOC 2 Type 2 or similarly audited environment.
Benefits Include
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • 401(k) with Employer Match
  • Employee Assistance Programs
  • Mental Health Resources
  • Learning and Development Courses
  • PTO and Paid Holidays
