Job description

Koniag IT Systems, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an IT Asset Manager with a Secret security clearance to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This is an onsite position.

The IT Hardware Asset Manager delivers comprehensive IT Asset Management services across HQ AMC. While operating in a highly technical IT capacity, this critical role fundamentally acts as theUnit Supply Representativefor all technology hardware. The manager ensures 100% accountability, optimized utilization, and regulatory compliance of all HQ IT hardware investments from initial procurement through final disposition, utilizing GCSS-Army as the authoritative system of record.

Core responsibilities:

Accountability & Supply Operations

  • Maintain accurate GCSS-Army records of all HQ AMC IT hardware assets.
  • Collaborate daily with the Property Book Officer (PBO) and Hand Receipt Holders (HRH) to issue, track, and transfer equipment.
  • Conduct regular audits, cyclic counts, and reconciliation of the IT hardware asset inventory.
  • Implement asset disposal and retirement procedures, including processing turn-in documents such as the DA Form 1348.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Army Regulations 25-1, 25-2, 710-4, and 735-5, along with all other applicable property accountability policies.

Lifecycle Management & Optimization

  • Track, analyze, and report on the complete hardware asset lifecycle, usage patterns, and associated costs.
  • Manage Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware solutions and associated investments.
  • Provide proactive recommendations for cost savings through optimized hardware maintenance, warranties, and renewals.
  • Recommend strategic asset sustainment plans to maximize value and minimize lifecycle costs.
  • Alert stakeholders about planned hardware upgrades, tech refreshes, or potential equipment retirements.
  • Track and report hardware deployment statistics and user utilization rates.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Support IT hardware acquisition planning and financial budgeting processes.
  • Generate regular, detailed reports on hardware usage and inventory status.
  • Create detailed spend breakdowns by hardware vendor and solution.
  • Provide proactive notifications to HQ leadership regarding upcoming hardware warranty expirations and replacement cycles.

Education & Experience:

Required Experience

  • Military Supply Foundation:Proven experience in Army Unit Supply isessential. This role requires a deep understanding of standard Army property book procedures.
  • Professional Background:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; OR 3+ years of direct experience in IT hardware asset management, logistics, or a related role.
  • System Knowledge:Demonstrated familiarity and functional understanding ofGCSS-Army.
  • Lifecycle Expertise:Proven background in hardware asset tracking, IT procurement, vendor management, and complete IT asset lifecycle management processes.
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware asset management principles, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in analyzing asset utilization, cost data, and developing strategic recommendations based on that data.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain HQ-level hardware asset management policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of IT procurement processes, contract management, and IT budgeting/financial planning.
  • Experience utilizing advanced asset tracking tools and systems.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and cost-optimization skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and absolute accuracy in inventory management.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Willingness to work exclusively on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.
