Job Summary
Manages, plans, and leads department(s) within Corporate Information Technology (CIT). Leads, implements, and supports strategy, technology and operations. Develops, modifies, and executes CIT policies and procedures to ensure consistency of operations.
Responsibilities
  • Defines and implements strategic plan to support and enhance Battelle's business.
  • Leads and manages teams and projects to expand and enhance information technology functions; ensures work is performed in a timely, efficient manner adhering to Battelle and CIT objectives and standards.
  • Evaluates and recommends new technology that can be used to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of staff and supports the objectives of the organization. Plans for the integration of technologies into existing systems.
  • Provides input to the annual budget preparation and manages department(s) budget.
  • May provide support for business applications including upgrades, replacement, and new applications.
  • Provides leadership to the department(s) by defining, documenting, and reinforcing the standard processes to increase consistency and quality in both deliverables and solutions.
  • Keeping well-informed of technological advances, trends and products relative to department(s) managed; maintains a current knowledge base of information technology and evaluates new concepts and techniques for use to solve business problems.
  • Establishes staff goals and objectives; provides constant feedback; prepares and delivers performance reviews; administers compensation and responds to affirmative action needs.
  • Fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment and continues to adhere and promote Battelle's core values.
  • Continually evaluates staff to assure the right skills are present and the team is appropriately staffed to meet Battelle & CIT strategic direction and project needs.
  • Assures effective operations and delivery of services through the selection, development, and recognition of staff members.
  • Evaluates outsourcing vs. hiring for labor. Manages contractors and staff augmentation in addition to full time employees.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Systems or a more-specific, related technical field; 10 years' experience in Information Technology; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
  • Ability to function as a proactive strategic partner with Senior Management to identify, plan and implement CIT programs designed to achieve organizational goals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, organization and time management, planning and delegation skills
  • May require knowledge and/or certification specific to departments(s) managed.
  • Experience in business process and system analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Battelle operating policies, practices and procedures.
