Job description

Thank you for your interest in a career with Coremark Metals! We are looking for an IT Desktop Support Specialist to join our Minneapolis team. This position is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to team members and helping maintain the reliable operation of the companyโ€™s desktop computing environment.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who communicates clearly, enjoys helping others, and can effectively prioritize and manage multiple support requests. This position offers opportunities for continued growth within the IT department as you build your skills and experience, based on performance and organizational needs.

Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Pay: $60,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education

Job Type: Full-time

Primary Responsibilities:Core duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, business applications, computer hardware, and connectivity issues
  • Install, configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot computers and related equipment
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other business applications
  • Create and maintain user accounts, permissions, and system access using Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar identity-management platforms
  • Assist team members with password resets, account access, MFA, VPN, Wi-Fi, and remote-access issues
  • Diagnose and resolve basic LAN, wireless, DNS, DHCP, and network connectivity problems
  • Track, document, prioritize, and resolve incidents and service requests through the IT ticketing system
  • Prepare equipment, accounts, and system access for new team members and complete access removal and equipment-related tasks during offboarding
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records
  • Deploy and maintain software, security updates, patches, and endpoint configurations
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate IT teams or vendors when necessary
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge-base resources
  • Follow established cybersecurity, data protection, access control, and IT policies and procedures
  • Provide timely, professional, and courteous support while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for maintenance, upgrades, or critical technical issues, as needed

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training in Information Technology preferred
  • 1โ€“3 years of desktop support, help desk, or related IT support experience
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar user-management systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests and work independently as well as collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required.

  • Visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a keyboard and computer
  • Ability to safely lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, reach, kneel, and work in or around workstations while installing or troubleshooting equipment
