The communications intern works with the Odessa District public information office to support TxDOT's mission and goals in the Permian Basin. Please note that while technical skills are appreciated, a willingness to learn and an interest in websites and digital communications is most valuable.
Essential Duties:
- Assists in writing and editing social media posts, news releases, media advisories and other project related materials.
- Performs preliminary research on assignments; gathers pertinent data.
- Assists in the creation of informational slides and other informational materials.
- Helps update internal/external websites as needed.
- Attends meetings and events as assigned.
- Maintains files/records/logs and performs other data entry tasks as needed.
- Performs routine word processing duties; edits and proofs own work.
- Runs errands as required.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education:
Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.

- Preference for communications and website content management experience.

- Established skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
