What is an IT Communications Intern?

IT Communications Interns are students or recent graduates who assist organizations with internal and external communications related to information technology projects and initiatives. Their responsibilities typically include creating content such as emails, newsletters, presentations, and documentation to help explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. They may also support IT teams with project coordination, event planning, and maintaining communication channels. The role provides hands-on experience in both IT and communications, helping interns develop valuable skills for future careers.

What types of projects and tasks can an IT Communications Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As an IT Communications Intern, you will typically assist with creating and distributing internal communications regarding IT initiatives, drafting user guides, and preparing technology updates for staff. You may also help manage digital content, support the coordination of IT training sessions, and collaborate with IT and communications teams to ensure messaging is clear and user-friendly. This role often involves attending meetings to learn about new IT projects and translating technical information into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
