Job Summary
The IT Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, oversight, and support of IT teams which are directly responsible for supporting technology and applications that are used by various departments within the Augusta Health. The IT Supervisor is a vital member of the Augusta Healthcare team as they oversee the organization, maintenance and evaluation of the healthcare IT systems used to meet the hospital's needs. The IT Supervisor manages the workload, priorities, and assignments of all their direct reports and has responsibility for managing, coaching, and developing their team members to meet organizational needs.
This position reports to one of the IT Managers and provides ongoing support, monitoring, and optimization for the systems utilized by various departments in the environment. The IT Supervisor will frequently be required to interact with PHI (patient health information) and will comply with all HIPAA standards. This position requires communication with both clinical and non-clinical team members including providers and leaders and will lead projects in multiple environments. Teamwork, coaching, collaboration, customer service, data analysis, and technical skills are crucial to the success of this role.
This position plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Health's mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities.

  • Work with vendors to ensure reliability, efficient service agreements, and timely issue resolution, in support of ensuring vendor relations required for successful hospital operations.
  • Developing and communicating staff schedules in accordance with customer needs; ensuring adherence to time and attendance policies and procedures;
  • Creating and maintaining a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a dedicated team orientation.
  • Is an accessible and visible role model for subordinates.
  • Fosters enthusiasm and maintains mutual trust, candor and respect with staff; ensures productive resolution of conflict.

  • Resolves technical and personnel issues timely. Repetitive issues are kept to a minimum, and goals set to correct actions.
  • Frontline supervision performance feedback occurs with staff in a timely manner.
  • Staff work time and attendance is monitored for adherence to Augusta Health policies.
  • Monitors productivity indicators and proposes adjustments as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or ten years' experience
  • Licensure/Certification: ITIL4 Foundation Certification required within 1 year of hire
  • Experience: Five years of related healthcare IT experience (unless no bachelor's degree, then ten years of experience required)
  • Driver's License: N/A
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Candidate must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately with technical, clinical, and business experts.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows operating systems. Considerable experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is expected.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management applications and ITIL processes and procedures.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and data management skills.
  • Dedicated commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrates commitment to process improvement and adherence of best practices.
