Job description

Position Overview Qnity is seeking an IT Application Support Contractor to join its Technology IT organization and support critical applications used across its Research & Development environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, and learning new technologies. The ideal candidate will have 0–5 years of relevant experience, including internship experience, and a strong interest in application support, systems administration, or IT operations. The individual will provide Tier 2 application support, assist with user access and provisioning, troubleshoot technical issues, support data and application initiatives, and work closely with scientists, engineers, researchers, IT teams, and software vendors. Key Responsibilities:Application Support
  • Provide Tier 2 support for R&D applications, including ELN, LIMS, Document Management Systems, and other scientific applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, access, and user-reported issues.
  • Log, track, prioritize, and resolve support tickets within established service-level expectations.
  • Monitor application health and identify recurring issues or opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with incident resolution, outage reporting, and root-cause investigations.
  • Escalate complex issues to vendors, infrastructure teams, or senior technical resources when appropriate.
User Access & System Administration
  • Support user onboarding, provisioning, deprovisioning, and access changes.
  • Assist with Active Directory group ownership and membership for supported applications.
  • Support service-account requests and periodic access reviews.
  • Help maintain application security and ensure adherence to IT security, audit, and data-governance requirements.
Data & Application Management
  • Assist with data archival, cleanup, migration, and validation activities.
  • Support bulk data imports and transfers between repository systems.
  • Assist with application testing, validation, configuration, upgrades, patches, and implementations.
  • Coordinate with software vendors and internal IT teams to resolve technical issues and support system enhancements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on application usability, stability, and user adoption.
User Support & Documentation
  • Work directly with scientists, engineers, researchers, and business users to understand and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide guidance on application functionality and best practices.
  • Assist with user onboarding and training.
  • Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, SOPs, knowledge-base articles, and other support documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with users and provide a high level of customer service.
Required Qualifications
  • 0–5 years of experience in application support, IT support, systems administration, business systems, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant internship experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting users and troubleshooting application or access-related issues.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic understanding of user provisioning, access management, and Active Directory.
  • Experience working with enterprise applications or technical systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and willing to take ownership of issues through resolution.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, applications, and R&D/scientific workflows quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting ELN, LIMS, Document Management Systems, or other R&D applications.
  • Experience working in an R&D, laboratory, scientific, or technical environment.
  • Experience with application testing, validation, or implementation.
  • Experience with data migration or system implementation projects.
  • Experience working directly with scientists, engineers, or researchers.
  • Familiarity with security, audit, and data-governance requirements.
  • Experience with ticketing or incident-management systems.
  • Degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Chemistry, another science discipline, or a related field.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an early-career IT professional who is technically curious, highly responsive, and comfortable working directly with end users. They don't need to have extensive experience with every R&D application but should demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, learn quickly, and take ownership of problems. Someone with a background in IT support, application support, systems administration, business systems, or a technical/scientific environment could be a strong fit. Internship experience is absolutely relevant. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including scientists, engineers, researchers, IT professionals, and vendors.
