What is an ISSA Nutrition Coach?

An ISSA Nutrition Coach is a certified professional who has completed the International Sports Sciences Association’s (ISSA) Nutrition Coach program. This certification equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide evidence-based nutrition advice, create meal plans, and support clients in achieving their health, fitness, and wellness goals. ISSA Nutrition Coaches are trained to help people make sustainable dietary changes, understand the science behind nutrition, and integrate healthy habits into their daily lives. They work with a diverse range of clients, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals seeking to improve their overall well-being.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ISSA Nutrition Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ISSA Nutrition Coach, you need a solid understanding of nutrition science, coaching principles, and the completion of the ISSA Nutritionist certification. Familiarity with dietary analysis tools, nutrition tracking apps, and client management platforms is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, motivational abilities, and the capacity to tailor advice to individual client needs help set top coaches apart. These skills are crucial for delivering effective, personalized nutrition guidance that supports clients in achieving their health and wellness goals.

Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Reports To: Fitness Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking someone who is passionate about fitness and genuinely motivated by helping others change their lives. We are looking for a client-focused fitness professional to join our team as a Club Trainer. At Courthouse Club Fitness, we believe that coaching goes beyond the training floor. Our Club Trainers build real relationships with members, guiding them through personalized programming, lifestyle coaching, and small group training formats that deliver lasting results. This is not a role for someone looking to run a quick session and move on. This is a role for someone who wants to walk alongside members on a longer journey, help them find consistency, and be a trusted part of their health and wellness story. If you are driven to lead, love the process of coaching people toward real change, and want to be part of a team that takes fitness seriously without taking itself too seriously, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Fitness Sessions

  • Small Group Training: Lead high-energy, motivating small group sessions, programmed by Courthouse
  • Group Class Lead: Teach high-energy, motivating group fitness classes that keep members coming back for more (e.g., Mossa, Club Dance, Age Series, Yoga).
  • Private Training: Lead specialized sessions for clients in a 1:1 ratio either in strength or through EMS

Fitness Appointments

  • Class & Program Promotion: Actively promote group classes, training programs, and special events, encouraging members to try new activities, engage with different programs, and experience the full range of offerings.
    • New member fitness consultations
  • Member Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with members by offering personalized advice, answering questions, and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment. Encourage consistent participation.
  • Goal setting & Progress Tracking: Assist members in setting goals and then tracking their progress.
    • Monthly or quarterly InBody assessment (body composition testing).
    • Monthly client accountability appointments
    • Movement assessment and fitness programming
    • Nutrition guidance

Fitness Sales

  • Prospecting leads utilizing a CRM
  • Training Trial program enrollment
  • Supplemental service sales (Training, EMS, Pilates, etc)
  • Lifestyle coaching enrollment
  • Backup membership sales support

Qualifications:
  • Current personal training or group fitness certification (NASM, ACE, ISSA, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience delivering personal training or small group training
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for client success
  • High energy, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Group Exercise Class certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with fitness membership software and/or client retention software
  • Background in lifestyle or nutrition coaching
  • Experience teaching group fitness formats
  • A genuine interest in building long-term client relationships

Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly pay plus training sales commission and client retainer compensation
  • Complimentary Courthouse Club Fitness membership plus discounts on services
  • Healthcare benefits (based on eligibility qualifications)
  • Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education
  • Supportive, community-driven team environment
  • Access to industry-leading facilities across five locations
