Job description

Vice Principal


Reports To

  • Principal

Supervises

  • Curriculum/Subject Heads (stipended teacher-leaders), assigned instructional and support staff, as delegated by the Principal


Job Goal

To support the Principal in leading the academic, instructional, and operational functions of the school by providing consistent instructional leadership, overseeing curriculum implementation, coordinating professional development, supporting staff growth, and ensuring a positive and structured learning environment for all students.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated instructional leadership and coaching experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate


Core Responsibilities

A. Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Oversight

  • Serve as the primary instructional leader under the direction of the Principal
  • Oversee schoolwide curriculum implementation and instructional consistency across all subjects, including Qur'an and Islamic Studies
  • Support and supervise Curriculum/Subject Heads in their leadership roles
  • Monitor curriculum pacing and progress, identify gaps, and recommend intervention or support plans
  • Collaborate with the Principal to ensure curriculum alignment with school mission, vision, and academic goals

B. Teacher Coaching & Lesson Planning Oversight

  • Maintain and refine lesson plan templates to ensure clarity, quality, and alignment
  • Review lesson plans regularly with a focus on pedagogy, instructional strategy, and curriculum alignment
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching support to teachers through meetings, written feedback, and classroom visits
  • Conduct non-evaluative classroom walkthroughs and instructional coaching visits to support teacher growth
  • Assist teachers with instructional planning, differentiation strategies, and use of academic resources

C. Professional Development & Training Coordination

  • Review prior-year professional development feedback and training outcomes
  • Identify schoolwide instructional and professional learning needs
  • Develop an annual professional development plan and calendar in collaboration with the Principal
  • Coordinate trainers and training sessions, ensuring alignment with school priorities and mission
  • Support implementation and follow-up of professional development initiatives

D. Administration & School Operations

  • Assist with day-to-day school operations and scheduling needs
  • Support implementation of Board policies, school handbooks, and state mandates
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of student and staff records
  • Assist with safety procedures, emergency response, and school supervision duties
  • Support preparation for the academic year, including instructional systems and staff readiness

E. Personnel Support

  • Participate in recruitment, screening, onboarding, and mentoring of instructional staff
  • Support staff professional growth and accountability in collaboration with the Principal
  • Assist with identifying professional development needs for staff
  • Participate in staff meetings and administrative planning sessions

F. Student Services & School Culture

  • Assist with student discipline and behavior management in alignment with school policy
  • Support student services, attendance monitoring, and intervention efforts
  • Maintain a visible presence during school hours, assemblies, prayers, and events
  • Promote a positive, structured, and Islamic learning environment

G. Community & Communication

  • Support communication with parents and address concerns as delegated by the Principal
  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with families and the school community
  • Represent the school at meetings or events as assigned

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on assessment of professional personnel.

START DATE: July 2026 (some trainings may take place over the Summer)
